چکیده

This paper, which summarises work on measuring users’ opinions of the quality of software products carried out the last four years, presents the experience gained from measuring users’ perception of software quality. Although this paper briefly presents the survey method and the techniques used to ensure the quality of the responses, it mainly emphasises the problems related to such measurements and the human factors that the measuring team has to overcome. It also presents examples from the measurements results and the underlining philosophy of such soft measurements. Finally, this paper presents how these soft measures are performed within the overall measurements approach and the adopted quality methodology.

Measuring User Beliefs and Attitudes towards Conceptual Schemas: Tentative Factor and Structural Equation Model

Human factors research in conceptual modeling is scarce. Recently, quality assurance frameworks, methods and tools for conceptual schemas have received increased research attention, but the perception of quality by schema users has largely been ignored in this stream of research. This paper proposes a tentative model of user beliefs and attitudes towards the quality of conceptual schemas. The p...

Objective estimation of perceived speech quality. I. Development of the measuring normalizing block technique

Perceived speech quality is most directly measured by subjective listening tests. These tests are often slow and expensive, and numerous attempts have been made to supplement them with objective estimators of perceived speech quality. These attempts have found limited success, primarily in analog and higher-rate, error-free digital environments where speech waveforms are preserved or nearly pre...

Objective estimation of perceived speech quality .II. Evaluation of the measuring normalizing block technique

Part I of this paper describes a new approach to the objective estimation of perceived speech quality. This new approach uses a simple but effective perceptual transformation and a distance measure that consists of a hierarchy of measuring normalizing blocks. Each measuring normalizing block integrates two perceptually transformed signals over some time or frequency interval to determine the av...

Measuring Video Quality in the Network: from Quality of Service to User Experience

Consumers demand video delivery to a wide variety of multimedia capable playback devices in dissimilar contexts. Monitoring the quality of the network provides a preliminary indication of the video quality end-users can expect. However, more advanced measurements are needed to reliably predict perceived quality. In this paper, we provide information on how to measure video quality, from leverag...

Meta-metric Evaluation of E-Commerce-related Metrics

User-perceived software quality is subjective, and thus difficult to be measured. Its importance however in user-centric, web-based systems such as ecommerce systems is huge. How can one measure the subjective? Metrics are one of the most powerful weapons in the arsenal for measuring quality. For such a weapon to be put in good use, guidelines for use should be available. In this paper we prese...
